Day ten – the early angler catches the strangest fish
Franz couldn’t sleep last night and was rewarded with two very nice fish from the pier.
After loosing a very nice Tarpon he landed an African Pompano and a huge Horse-eye Jack.
Harald caught his first Barracuda and Wolfgang a stinky Ladyfish.
Again I could not profit from the many shots I already had on Permits, but at least I got two very nice Bones, the second one wading on the #6 weight rod.

Day nine – Most different fish ever
Today was full of surprises and a great diversitiy of the fish landed.
Harald caught his first ever Permit.
Alex landed his second Permit.
Stefan had a very nice Jack.
But the catch of the day goes to Wolfgang with a nice Tarpon and a huge Barracuda!
Besides that, Stefan’s and Alex’s room was visited by an eight-legd intruder. ;-)
And the cat there on the picture is a two-time hurricane veteran!!!

Day eight – First day for our new arrivals
Today fishing was kind of poor due to the strong wind coming from the south east. At least Wolfgang, Stefan and Harald caught their first Ascension Bay Bonefish!
A few Permit were spotted and I caught a nice Barracuda.

Day seven – Goodbye and Welcome
Peter hat to return home this morning, and in exchange Wolfgang, Stefan, Harald, Franz and Manfred arrived, to spend our second week at Casa Blanca with us.
The wind is still strong and became even stronger over the day.
And now here the huge picture upload I promised the last few days! :)))

Day six – Day of the rough sea
Today we woke up with a strong breeze coming from the south east and the sea was therefore very rough.
The guides had a hard time spotting the fish, so fishing was realy poor, but at least Peter and I cought two nice Bones each.
Most of the others caught absolutly zero.
Alex had “the perfect shot” on a nice Permit but screw it.
Gerhard had another broken hook and lost once again a huge Barracuda. Maybe he should buy his stuff from a different tackle dealer next time. ;-)
It is the last evening for most anglers today, as it is for Peter.
We were served the snack and drinks at the peer, and the guides had a little casting competition.

Day five – The Empire strikes back!
Today was the day of the little Austrian delegation at Casa Blanca Lodge!
Alex and Stefan finally got their first Permit and Gerhard caught his first Permit ever, which makes it three in a day!
Peter caught half a dozen Bones and brought home a very nice Barracuda he cought on his very own Trout-Popper © ( patent pending ).
I had my fist nil-day, but who cares, there was enough to celebrate! :)
Take a look at this sweety!!!

Day four – day of the wasted opportunities
Today we all saw more fish than in the past days in total. Only problem…we didn’t catch any.
Ok, a few Bones where landed, but that is not we are talking about.
I had several shots on Tarpons and Permits, but managed to screw up all those chances…grrrrrrrrl
We had a Shimano reel wrecked by a Barracuda – no wonder as I would call that a Trout reel. ;-)
Peter landed his second Blue Runner, a real monster! :)
Alex and Stefan are still wating for their first Permit, but at least they where lucky again to see some of the great animals inhabiting the Ascension Bay.
I know there’s somebody back home that would have loved to be there! ;-)
( Eine viertel Stunde waren sie da und sind ums Boot geschwommen!!! Hab also noch mehr Fotos für dich. )

Day three – Our first Permit encounter
Fishing was very poor today for everybody. Just Alex managed to catch two tarpons.
Peter and I had our first shots on Permit, but as all the others experienced, the fish would not feed.

Day two & the evening of surprise
This morning we went for Bonefish again, but caught just one fish each.
Stefan and Alex had a few shots on Permit, a realy surprising encounter with a couple of Manatees ( Seekühe ) and that was it.
BUT….then there came the evening…
After dinner we went to the pier to check if there where an fish and met one of the US-Guys trying to catch a Tarpon to complete his “Grand-Slam” – Permit, Tarpon and Bonefish caught in day.
Stefan desided to give the US-Boys a casting lesson and here is the result….

Fishing the Ascension Bay – Day One
This is what we were waiting for…fishing the great waters of the Ascension Bay!
It is also Peters first day ever of saltwater fly fishing, and yes he got his first Bone!!!
Unfortunately we did not take any pictures of that fish. :(
We went for Bonefish only, so Peter could get used to the guides commands and learn how to spot the fish.
Two fish each was the days result.
There were five Permits caught in total by the group from the US.
Today I desided to upload only a couple of pictures a day as the internet connection at the lodge is quite slow, but I will upload a picture gallery on saturday, as we do not fish that day.
